Estimating that the dollar is now "now moderately overvalued from a medium term perspective," the IMF said other countries will need to allow for greater exchange rate flexibility or appreciation--a possible reference to China's tightly managed currency. The recommendation came in the IMF's annual Article IV report on the US economy. The Article IV reports pinpoint weak spots in an IMF member country's economy and makes policy recommendations to deal with problems.
